This book is based on the Living Arctic exhibition at the Museum of Mankind and is designed to show young children what a visit to a museum or exhibition may entail. The book also serves as an introduction to the Inuit, Cree and Dene people of the Canadian Sub-Arctic. The exhibition aims, in particular, to dispel the many myths and assumptions about Eskimos. It shows how their culture has adapted to the demands of the modern world. The book follows a class of primary school children as they are guided around the exhibition by the teacher who is a Canadian and has lived in the Sub-Arctic. He uses role-play and other activities to bring the message of the exhibition home. Back at school the children continue their project.
