Tyler, the love of Bryn’s life and the breaker of her heart is back in Savannah as well living in his childhood home with his sister Charlotte and two of his other friends, Jason and Eva. When Tyler broke Bryn’s heart he also left Savannah that same night and has not spoken or seen Bryn since. Tyler has never stopped loving Bryn. He’s hoping with her back in town they’ll have a chance to try again.
I really love the prologue of this book. The opening with a young Tyler giving Bryn a kiss at midnight on New Years eve was so sweet. After that little cute start to the book I was ready to settle down for a sweet read and find out more about Tyler and Bryn. We catch up with Bryn and she is now 22 yrs old and about to graduate. No, Tyler around at this point and the readers quickly learn Bryn has had some heartbreak. Once the reasons are revealed why Tyler isn’t around I was hurt for Bryn. I wanted to know why Tyler and his sister Charlotte who were best friends with Bryn just left and never contacted her.
I like Bryn’s character. She was easy to love and I hurt for her. I like her and Tyler together. It was a sweet romance with lots of memories from their past to illustrate the connection that is very much still there between the two. I can feel how much they loved and still were in love with each other.
I liked Bryn and I liked Tyler. I loved them together. With their history and the love they had what threw me off in this story was how Tyler and everyone else acted like Tyler hadn’t just up and left Bryn four years ago and then shut out Bryn from their lives. It’s like “Hey Bryn” lets hang out no explanation no nothing. When Bryn asks what happens they don’t tell her. Once the secret and the reasons are revealed I was even more confused. All parties involved were very close and loved each other so why would they shut Bryn out like that. What Tyler reveals is sad but I still didn’t understand why he and Charlotte just shut Bryn out like that. With what he revealed I would thought he’d want all loved ones close. It didn’t add up for me. Also the flow of book was not smooth. Transition from one scene to another was a bit confusing. One scene would start and I thought maybe I skipped a page because I was just reading about something and then jumps onto another scene. Olivia who was Bryn’s best friend in New York moves back home with Bryn to Savannah. I thought she would have a more major role but she was introduced for bit and then gone. When she reappears later in the book, all of sudden she seems close with all the friends, which confused me since she’d never met them. So I didn’t see how they could be close since the author never showed this happening.
This was an OK read for me. I liked reading about Bryn and Tyler’s history and watching them fall back in love again. This was a sweet romance. But the pace, reasoning for abonding Bryn and confusing scene transition just left me underwhelmed.
