I really enjoyed this book. I really felt for the Tingle boys (Tommy, Gary and Kenny). Being raised by a single mother, on welfare and dirt poor, in one of Lawrence's toughest neighborhoods had to of been no picnic. Then to be dumped in an orphanage when their mother leaves to visit her family by their father had to of been tough. I was surprised, through reading the book, that Kenny wasn't put into foster care earlier and I was elated to read, at the end, that he overcame his tough upbringing.

Also, as someone who grew up and still lives near Lawrence, Haverhill, Lynnfield, Everett, Methuen, Salem , Andover, and Peabody....it was great to read about our area. I giggled when he ran from the foster home in Salem and traveled through Peabody on Rt 114....because Peabody really is a big town and that stretch of road he walked on does go on forever.

I rated this book 4 stars on Shelfari and Goodreads. This book was a good read. A little confusing at times (I would have loved to know what Tommy was suffering from) but an overall good read.

Will I recommend this book to others? Yes I will.
