What sort of God is the God of creation? John Weaver begins by examining the Jewish story of creation and comparing it with those of the Babylonians and their other Near Eastern neighbours. He then concentrates on the discoveries of science, showing that in spite of the fact that they have led many to see design in the universe, they can take us only so far. Finally, Weaver brings the historical and scientific stories together. He demonstrates how a universe constructed on relationships - with God, with human beings and with creation - leads us to a theology of earthkeeping, and to a deeper insight into the nature of the creator God.
