This handbook is designed to prepare the reader to link PCs to accomplish business or individual computing goals. This book is a practical, troubleshooting guide to computer linking, containing instructions on how to correct the inevitable error message. The authors do not strive to provide a connectivity "bible", but rather a practical reference tool that users will be able to keep by their side to solve any linking problems that may arise. The book contains a laptop word processing software package, LapLink's File Management utility, and a utility called DiskConnect which allows computers to share disk drives. The book includes a disk of special versions of software from Travelling Software, creators of LapLink. The authors begin with the basics of linking computers, the why and how. Subsequent chapters discuss local and remote computer linking. The next chapters cover linking of laptop and notebook computers, pen based computers, and palmtops. The closing chapters discuss cellular technology, and include a summary of major points.
