Utter is a collection of poems which attempts to balance the light with the dark, the personal with the natural, and the older styles of poetry with a more modern language. The poems attempt to tap into the emotions directly enough to draw a reader in right away, but with enough mystery to keep you coming back.

`Utter’ is the word we reach for to describe life’s most vivid impressions and feelings: from utter joy and despair to utter bliss and blackness; and, between those extremes, the utter absurdity of much of modern life. But it is also perhaps the most human imperative: to utter is to give voice, to express those feelings; to try to connect.
