While this book was not in any way laugh-out-loud funny (at least to me), it was entertaining to a degree. The experiences he had growing up as he did were unusual for most, and it was certainly interesting to read, but I found myself having a hard time staying focused on reading the book. As I have never read any of Shteyngart's other writings, I'm not sure if it is just his writing or the memoir in particular that didn't work for me.
Don't get me wrong - I have a feeling that there are many out there who could relate somewhat to at least one of the marks of his background, whether it be the immigrant, the Russian, or the Jew. And for those folks, this book will probably have a LOT more to offer.
