I was expecting a whole lot more from this book. I heard it was so cute and it totally is but for some reason, it didn’t wow me as I was hoping. If you are looking for a cute, romantic teen story then this book is right up your alley. I liked that these characters were, in a way, real. Annie is not the perfect girl or has the perfect family. She is dealing with some major issues with her family, which have led her and her mom to leave to a new city altogether and start fresh. What Annie doesn’t expect is to meet Graham, who I have to admit, I didn’t quite like in the beginning. As the story progresses and Annie and Graham spend more time together, I realize I like them together. I guess they bring out the best in one another.
What I didn’t like about Annie was that she sounded like an immature girl most of the time and was very ignorant to many things surrounding her. I was aggravated every time she would mention how she didn’t want to talk to her father. I know he did a very bad thing but it isn’t something so monumental that you have to ignore him. The attraction between Graham and Annie was instantaneous, which I wasn’t a big fan of.
The writing of the story was easy to understand and very captivating, to be honest. The pacing was also on point, seeing as it wasn’t slow nor fast. It was a pace that I believe many will enjoy. I had problems with the plot. I wish there had been something more added to it to really hook me in. I felt like I had read this some time before and I felt it to be predictable. If this story had been developed more, I probably would have enjoyed it more than I did.
Even so, this story was enjoyable and a quick read. It took me probably two days to read it because I was very busy with school, but it is a book that can be read in a day. If you want a cute, relaxing, happy story, then I really recommend this book. I don’t think you guys would be disappointed.
