Nearing the end of high school, Jennifer realises she is in love with her neighbour AJ and they begin a relationship. When they argue over Jennifer's mother's continued unacceptance of AJ as her daughter's new boyfriend, AJ's older brother Daniel, takes the opportunity to move in on Jennifer. When the two of them go for an impromptu swim, he saves her from drowning and wants a night out with her in return. Daniel plies her with alcohol and the night ends with a drunken Jennifer betraying AJ. When Jennifer discovers she is pregnant she is forced to make a choice between the brothers. She cannot bear the thought of her child not growing up with its father as she had done and moves away with Daniel.
When AJ's study of medicine brings him to the same city as Jennifer he visits her during her labour and delivers her son in a car park. As the two spend time together AJ makes a discovery that will change all of their lives and finally reveal why Jennifer has never been able to love Daniel the way she loves AJ.
