The last two major essays by the Czech philosopher Vilem Flusser. The first essay, From Subject to Project, was written between late 1988 and early 1989. Taking as his cue the Heideggarian notion of the "sketch", Flusser's intention was to present aspects of a new manner of human existence. Exploring such themes as cities, bodies, sex and technology, Flusser lays the ground work for a postmodern anthropology, and looks at the possibilities of a transformation of the human being from the philosophical "subject" into "project". The second essay, Becoming Human, upon which the author worked from August 1990 until his death in 1991, and which remains fragmentary, takes up the themes of the earlier essay and incorporates them into what was intended not only to be a phenomenological bibliography of the gesture "human", but also the culmination of his life's work as a philosopher.
