"Holographic Scanning" is a review of the spectrum of holographic scanning techniques. The principles of scanning designs are explained and a survey is given of the current work of investigators in this field. Design options and fulfilment of design objectives are organized functionally for easier comparison. The comprehensive approach to scanned resolution provides a unified interpretation for holographic and conventional techniques. Descriptions are given of remote sensing, display imaging, information handling, business graphics, and view and data storage. In addition, a new analytic tool is introduced: the Conformal Ray Surface, which allows rapid heuristic appreciation of otherwise complex spatial functions.
