This selection of 64 drawings and watercolours is from the collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It illustrates the varied legacy of Dutch and Flemish art from the 16th to 19th century, and is exhibited together for the first time. It features notable works by many of the leading artists of the Low Countries, including Antony van Dyck and Peter Paul Rubens. The Royal Collection contains over 700 Dutch and Flemish drawings, mostly acquired by George III over 200 years ago, few of which have been exhibited before. Other artists represented in this book include: Hendrick Avercamp, Jacob van Ruisdael and Jan van der Straet. Over 40 artists are illustrated in total. This UK edition is published to accompany the exhibition's sole British showing at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 15 August to 15 October, 1995.
