At first I didn’t know what to expect, I kept hearing/seeing quotes and pictures on Twitter, about this book and new author, so I took a chance and ordered it, because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.......
Honestly, I expected more, like A LOT more. I am a little disappointed…I did find it really hard to concentrate on the actual storyline; it was predictable, uninteresting and overall a very tedious book to read. I honestly cannot see why it blew up on social media the way it did..
I thought the book would have been longer, more about their relationship (by this I mean, more intimate encounters between the main characters, August and Ethan), character development, and more challenges they have to face as a couple (but they weren’t really seen as an official couple throughout the whole book, which was kind of annoying), etc.
I also wish it was properly edited (grammar, paragraph& sentence structure)… hahah! Yes, I’m a total grammar Nazi~ xD
It’s just, it would have made the story so much better, if I hadn’t had to stop to re-word a sentence/add words to make it, make better sense/unnecessary sentences.
Okay, yeah, the author is British so some terminology is different/ things are said completely different from North American English. Like bathroom is loo, or high school is called college or that they say a person is called August, instead of named August, etc.
But... I don’t know… I don't know how to feel about this book.... There was no flow in this book what so ever. The thoughts weren't blended or merged in anyway and the events that happened were far-fetched, for happening to two people in such a short amount of time, which made the story, quite seem immature.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, I know it probably sounds like I totally hated it, but I did like it, kind of. It just needs some major improvements…
Putting all the negativity aside, the ending was REALLY FREAKING ADORABLE. The ending was so cute it was almost worth reading the rest of the book…. xD
I don’t know if I’d actually recommend it though, maybe if you were really, truly curious about the book yourself, then I would say go for it… though I’d wait to see if it was at your local library where you could borrow it… without spending money on it…
Also! I read on Billy Taylor’s twitter, he’s writing a second book called Mutual Feelings, which is being released in March-ish… I’ll probably get it for the sake of knowing what’s next… but from reading this one, I definitely have low expectations for it…
