Michael Zheng was born and grew up in China. When he was a child, his mother found him a Buddhist master. But it was not until after he had become an artist in the U.S. that he started practicing his own blend of Buddhism that is the confluence of Ch'an Buddhism, Taoism, and various spiritual traditions rooted in India. This book compiles a series of anecdotes of his experiences with learning and practicing yoga, meditation and the related traditions, and how they helped him toward a more enchanted existence. Color plates of his own artworks inspired by these practices are included throughout the book. Together they illustrate how spirituality, when practiced with self-aware criticality, can play a crucial role in shaping contemporary life, in place of religious dogma.

Michael was initially trained in Computer Science and worked as a software engineer at the dawning of the Internet. Later he quit his job to become an artist. His art works can be found at www.michaelzheng.org.
