Sue Bradley who won the 1983 Courtelle Award for hand-knit design, presents here a selection of styles representing countries such as Poland and Peru and areas as far apart as Africa, North America, Australasia, the Orient and Asia. She provides a source of inspiration from the Aborigine boy paint, African masks, Incan textiles and Korean kimonos. Each country is represented by one sweater and three or four variations are given for the main pattern with suggestions for alternative colouring. The pattern instructions are accompanied by colour charts and ideas for accessories are also included. A special feature is a "scrapbook" page showing the design influences for each section. Sue Bradley designs for a number of yarn companies such as Sirdar, Patons, Argyll and Tootal and her patterns have appeared in magazines such as "Good Housekeeping" and "Ideas".
