The Tavistock Institute holds a unique place in the development of the social and behavioural sciences. Established in 1947 the focus of the organization has always been on the study of human relations in the context of the family, the work group and the larger organization. Constantly innovative, the Institute has been a pioneer of such key methodologies as group dynamics, action-research and organizational development.
Tavistock Press was established as a co-operative venture between the Institute and Routledge & Kegan Paul (RKP) in the 1950's and produced a series of major contributions across the social sciences. Continuing late into the 1980's the activities of the Press mirrored those of the Institute and published ground breaking works by a number of eminent academics including Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion, DA Winnicott and Elliot Jaques.
This collection makes available, in facsimile, a selection of those important works which have since gone out of print, or are difficult to locate. The volumes are available individually and as minisets, structured around those areas Tavistock helped to create, as well as the more established fields to which it made significant contributions.
