Windows CE is Microsoft's OS for mobile-computing devices; the latest version for palm-size PCs supports color. Compaq, HP, Casio, Everex, Philips offer WinCE devices. Casio's E-100 is PC Magazine's Editors Choice (5/25/99). According to inside Microsoft sources, sales of CE devices are 1.5 million to date. Microsoft is putting its $$$ into winCE for palm-size devices (to squash Palm Pilot) -- hardware vendors will follow suit. Dataquest projects the worldwide sales to handheld devices will jump from 3.9 million units in 1998 to 15.9 million in 2002.
