"ICT in Action" for ages 5-7 provides activities that are closely linked to the areas of study in the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT, and sections include: an introduction to modelling; understanding instructions; using a word bank; communicating information using texts; the information around us; finding information; labelling and classifying, as well as guides for teachers on file handling and desktop management, health and safety, introducing mouse control and creating; and animated books. The author is keen to show throughout how schools can achieve the requirements if the ICT curriculum with the minimum outlay on expensive software. It is in line with the QCA Schemes of work and Curriculum 2000. It provides the opportunity to focus on ICT skills as well as enabling. It allows children to use these skills within the contexts of the requirements of the rest of the curriculum. Cross-curricular learning contexts are in line with the specific subject QCA Schemes of work. CD-ROM is also included.
