Putting this one aside. I am a little disappointed, because I really liked the story part of this and would love to find out where it was going, but it was a little too porn-y for me. I read a lot of romance, and many have graphic sex scenes, but this was just a little too much for me. Call me a prude. I might pick it up again, because I really do want to know more about Mary and her past.
Just like anyone else, I love a good sports romance and this naughty read definitely goes down as one of my favorites! Hail Mary was my first read for Nicola Rendell and let me just say that I'm a fan. And that I need to read more of her books, right away!
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy ... ladies, what a man he is! Definitely one of those characters who is your alpha male, dirtiest of the dirty talkers, not too shabby of a quarterback (when his mental game isn't psyching him out), but also a pretty sweet guy. And boy when Jimmy and Mary meet, everything goes blazing! They both thought they'd have one night together, but the chemistry is strong and they're falling fast. These two are the perfect match, hands down!
Once these two meet, not too long we learn that Mary happens to be Jimmy's physical therapist! dun dun dunnnnn. Issues are bound to arise, so it'll be interesting to see how these will skirt around having a forbidden relationship.
Goshhhh, I love these two! Despite all their intense chemistry, their hilarious batter is right up there with it. And Jimmy knows a few things about champagne and honey! Your mouth will probably be hanging open once you get through all of the steamy scenes!
Before I end this review, I have to say that I REALLY love Jimmy, if you couldn't tell. We get to witness a much softer side especially when it comes to his niece. It opens up a completely different side of him and you'd be crazy if you're not already in love with him. He's so loving, caring, and protective.
This was a one-sit read for me, I couldn't put it down. Bravo, Nicola and I can't wait to read more of your work!
The first 25% or so of this one was slow going for me. It was REALLY wordy (IMO) with long conversations that could have been shortened to move the plot along faster (the fight scene at the beginning, the rib restaurant scene, and the BFF dog convo are a few examples.) Things started to pick up a bit more after that and I got more involved in the plot.
Both characters were likable for the most past. Mary had a couple times where I wanted to throttle her and felt she acted a little immature for a thirty-year-old, but for the most part, she was an enjoyable heroine. Jimmy was sweet and sexy and VERY all in from the minute he meets Mary. There was also a nice collection of secondary characters added to the mix.
If you are looking for a insta-everything, low angst, easy peasy read with some smokin hot sex scenes (the champagne bottle was HOT, but seriously things like that are what land people in the ER with sex-related injuries) then look no further and add this one to your TO READ list today.
