A Kiss for Midwinter was so good - even if it was a novella, I knew the main characters, so I felt like their story was full. Lydia and the good doctor finally spent a little quality time together, and I was so stoked!
Milan has such eloquence when she writes, and her characters are all the better for it!

A Kiss for Midwinter was so sweet! And kind of odd, but in a good way! Jonas and Lydia met years ago when he was shadowing the physician who basically told her that she was a slut and warned her parents of her untimely demise and decaying morality. Jonas did not agree with a word the doctor said, but he held his tongue. Six years later, the two are reunited and Lydia is bursting with holiday cheer. Jonas bets her a kiss that he can show her a situation that even she can't see the light in.

The plot of A Kiss for Midwinter was delightfully dark. I'm sure that sounds weird, but Jonas wants to show Lydia the gloomy and doomy side of humanity. That is strange, but it's also a good excuse to spend time with her and get to know each other better. I also loved how frank he was with her. He tells her all about safe sex, which is definitely not an appropriate conversation for this time period. But as a doctor, he says to hell with propriety! These are things young women should know! Good on you, Jonas!

A Kiss for Midwinter was just a cute holiday romance. Jonas and Lydia make house calls and she makes baskets of supplies and goodies for the families. He tells her all about new (for the time) discoveries in health care and apologizes for his silence those years ago. It was just a sweet read.
