Not sure what it was about this one that did it. The kilts, probably. And imagining what lies beneath.
What? Like YOU'VE never done it?
I should get bonus points, though, for being able to guess the deep dark secret. I didn't necessarily guess the extent of it, but I totally figured it out before one of characters spilled the sordid tale. I'm just awesome that way.
You know, Venetia was awesome once she embraced who she was (and all the wickedness Lachlan let loose). She was the fun one to follow, because despite all the circumstances thrown at her (Lachlan was rather an ass), she perseveres. She thrives. She finds WICKEDNESS.
Lachlan... well, he was stubborn. And slightly stupid for going about doing what he did toward the end. But it provided a hugely epic scene {insert more vague descriptions here} that I thoroughly enjoyed, even as I wanted to bash Lachlan over the head.
If you're bothered by the kidnapping part, don't worry, Venetia loved him long before then. I say that only with a tiny trace of sarcasm. This might be one you have to suspend belief on a bit. But it worked for me, and really, that's all I care about.
(Okay, I care about you, too.)
