This manual prepares test-takers for the teacher TExES (formerly called ExCET) certification exam that all applicants for elementary and secondary school teaching positions in Texas must pass. An introduction and explanation of teacher certification in the state of Texas is followed by a five-chapter section that offers test-taking strategies and provides a self-assessment guide. This book goes on to cover the Standards, Knowledge, and Skills Components of the TExES Professional Practices and Responsibilities Exam. A total of eight diagnostic and practice tests are presented for Grades EC '-4, Grades 4 '-8, Grades 8 '-12, and for Grades EC '-12. Tests are followed up with scoring guides and a self-analysis framework. The authors also suggest sources for additional help, including web sites and printed resources.
