In this compilation, the sports journalist Dudley Doust, returns to the scene of his encounters with some of the greatest sports stories and personalities from the last 25 years, looking at the characters who made the headlines and telling the reader where they are now. In 1972 Doust attended the Munich Olympics, and now, 20 years on, he returns to see the human cost of the massacre that blighted those games. He reconstructs, with the help of the participants, Derek Randall's memorable innings at Sydney during the 1978 Ashes series and revisits the Nottinghamshire batsman in the twilight of his career. Doust also seeks out Muhammad Ali on his farm in Indiana and finds a tragic figure so different from the flamboyant and locquacious figure of old. There are features on Seve Ballesteros, Viv Richards, Peter Scudamore, Ivan Lendl, Arnold Palmer and England's World Cup side of 1966. Dudley Doust has written for "Time", "Sports Illustrated", "The Daily Telegraph Magazine", "The Sunday Times" and the "Sunday Correspondent". Other books by the author include "Seve: The Young Champion" and "221: Peter Scudamore's Record Season".
