Godly Play is an imaginative, playful approach to storytelling that invites children to discover the wonder and meaning of biblical narratives. Created by Jerome Berryman, a priest in the Episcopal Church in America, it is influenced by the Montessori way of encouraging teachers and children to learn together. A proven tool in the spiritual development of children, its popularity has spread to many countries, yet until now, all published resources focus on American churches with their large, well-resourced Sunday schools. Now, with the approval of the Godly Play Foundation, here is the first ever basic handbook geared to our cultural context and church traditions: a core volume to accompany the core training programme offered by Godly Play UK. It sets out the principles and values of Godly Play and offers a toolkit to get people started comprising story scripts, tips on storytelling, templates and instructions on how to make the materials needed for each lesson. All of these are downloadable from the accompanying CD rom.
