Alan Smith was a officer in the Royal Australian Navy for 25 years before retiring to teach Business Communication in the New South Wales TAFE system. A Parkinson's sufferer, he now lives in a Sydney nursing home. His poetry shows his compassion for his fellow man and documents the progress of his disease.
