Bert Wilson's Twin Cylinder Racer was a fictional boyhood hero who came alive in a book series written by J.W. Duffield in the 1910s. Like the stars of the Horatio Alger rags-to-riches tales or the Hardy Boys mysteries, Bert over-came all adversity to win, proving the American ideal that the dreams do come true. Duffield's hero differed from the alger and Franklin W. Dixon books in that he wrote tales of sporting derring-do. And his tales stood out from other motorcycling books of the day- such as the Big Five Motorcycle Boys or the Motorcycle Chumes-by being well written and truly exciting.
