This book anthologizes two papers written on autoethnographic film. The first paper concerns the theoretical precepts of identity construction which specifically distinguish autoethnographic film from its well-established parent discipline of ethnographic film, while the second paper examines these precepts in media res production of autoethnographic film in reference to two films I made in 2010-2012 as a Research Fellow at Australia's National Film Archive. The former paper is an analytical, objective theoretical paper while the latter is itself an auto-ethnographic paper examining = through case study - autoethnographer-as-filmmaker in praxis application of (and critical reflection on) - the theories delineated in the former paper. The anthologizing of these two papers in a single volume locates the theoretical foundations of auto ethnographic film as a post-modern genre in the practical participant-observation process of autoethnographic film-making data collection and production / post-production.
