The second book (but first published) in the Dirk Pitt series is just as good as the first. With a strong WWI and II focus, it is a fascinating read and a convoluted race against time which, every time you think you know what will happen, proves you wrong.

The characters are stronger this time and there are a couple of new main characters who have been introduced. Even the supporting characters have depth and are not wooden extras but an integral part of the story.
