Life cycles is a series of specially written first natural history books for the new reader, and this book looks at the life cycle of the crab, beginning with a clear description of what a crab looks like, and goes on to show us how the crab mates and produces its eggs. The different stages the eggs and larvae go through before the crab emerges as an adult after its last moult are described, and there is a section at the back of the book which gives further information about different kinds of crabs and how to look for them. The books are designed to be used in a number of ways - young readers can read or follow a text specially set in large type, while older children can read the more detailed smaller type. Jill Bailey, the author of this book has a degreee in Botany and an MSC in Ecology. She has also written six other books in the "Life Cycles" series.
