LPI (Linux Professional Institute) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to developing and maintaining a vendor-neutral Linux certification program. LPI has adopted the open-source philosophy, and relies on (and encourages) comments from the public to develop its skill set and test objectives. There are three levels of LPI certification, with Level 1 the only one available during summer 2001. This text contains: hundreds of review questions for individuals preparing for the two exams required for LPI Level 1 certification; real world scenario sidebars take readers well beyond the basics; "exam essentials" sections to reinforce key subject areas; and contents which map to official LPI exam objectives. The CD includes an advanced testing program with adaptive testing capabilities and a bonus sample exam, as well as electronic flashcards for both PCs and Palm devices.
