The Chocolate Thief sounded like a fun, foodie Romance, but sadly, I was mostly bored with it. Cade has just arrived in Paris in hopes of getting the best Parisian chocolatier, Slyvian Marquis, to agree to create a line of luxury chocolates for her family's chocolate business. Needless to say, he's appalled at the idea of putting his name on mass produced chocolates, but that doesn't stop Cade. If he won't talk to her, she'll just break into his kitchen and office at night to find his recipes! Or just steal his delicious chocolates that she can't get enough of.

I was expecting a lot more shenanigans from The Chocolate Thief once Cade starts breaking, entering, and eating. Her exploits are posted across the internet thanks to food bloggers, but nothing much comes from that. Cade breaks in a few times, Sylvian catches her, they have some sexy times, and that's about it. Not much chocolate thieving is happening anymore. That sex scene also came out of nowhere. There was no discussion or build up, they just went at it on the counter, which I sincerely hope they sanitized afterward.

In fact, there isn't much chemistry or relationship development between Cade and Sylvian at all. The Chocolate Thief has the makings of a cute enemies-to-lovers Romance, but it all fell flat. Sylvian is intrigued by this bold, American woman, and Cade is certainly attracted to the sexy Frenchman who is good with his hands. But I didn't feel anything from either of them. I did like that they're just having sex without worrying about commitments or labels, but of course, by the end they're engaged and planning babies. Where is the romance?!

The Chocolate Thief was almost all business and no pleasure. There's a lot of talk about Cade's family business and what she's trying to do for it, and I simply wasn't interested. Some of the chocolate making scenes were fun, but it all overshadowed the romance which is what I wanted to read about!
