"Being a royal is ALWAYS beneficial." (Grandmère)

In Royal Rebel, Mia might have caused a eco-disaster in Genovia. She's nominated for student body president by her best friend, Lily. She might be failing Geometry and her new English teacher is criticizing her writing. And when Lana tells her that all college boys want to have sex, Mia worries that her boyfriend, Michael, is going to dump her.

♕ I love Mia's voice, wit and humour, but she's naive and immature and she over analyses EVERYTHING. It makes her whiny and repetitive.
♕ Mia deals with the topic of sex in a naive and immature manner.
♕ I didn't really like how the topic of sex was dealt with, until I got to the end of Royal Rebel. The basic message is talking to one's partner about sex and having sex only when one is ready.
♕ I lost respect for Michael in Royal Rebel. He's such a selfish jerk! He puts so much of pressure on Mia when he says that he won't wait for her forever.
♕ I also couldn't get behind the whole Ms Martinez is bad just because she criticizes Mia's writing. I feel like Ms Martinez was genuinely trying to help her students become better writers.
♕ Lily is a horrible best friend.
♕ Tina Hakim Baba is a sweetheart.
♕ That speech though! You go, girl!

Quick Thoughts:
1. Mia's youth was really starting to bother me in the other books. Even at the beginning of this book it could be too much. I know she's young but she acts younger than 15 at times. She finally start to grow up in this book though! In actually excited to see more of her!
2. I still don't like Michael. He acts younger than his age too. Plus what else would he expect when he's dating a high school girl. Come on.
3. I was kind of annoyed that a big chunk of this book was Mia freaking out about having sex. For whatever reason she believes the class bully when she said all guys want it when they get to college. There was way too much emphasis on this part.
4. I loved how Mia finally took a good step up to becoming a good princess. I wish we could have seen more growth from her.
5. The books are getting better for sure! I'm now excited to see what's going to happen next.

This book kicks off Mia's sophomore year, and centers around another one of Lily's insane plots she drags Mia into (nominating her to be class president against her will...for Lily's own benefit of course). While I actually liked the presidency plot because it was nice to see Mia grow into herself more and become more confident in her leadership skills, Lily and Mia's friendship is just so irritating (the baby licker thing, UGH). Lily's so selfish and I just want Mia to kick her to the curb! Mia also focuses A LOT on sex (namely feeling pressured to have it thanks to Lana's comments to Mia about college boyfriend expectations) and while Mia's neurosis didn't bother me, her tendencies to obsess over things that other people WHO SHE KNOWS SHE SHOULDN'T TRUST tell her is taxing. Also, Michael seemed a little forward about his expectations considering Mia is 15 years old. It was fun to read about Mia's interactions with her little brother Rocky, though, and Tina's relationship with Boris (who is now a hottie, I totally forgot!). 3/5 Stars
