He covers many new aspects of lettering from design principles. Goblets, bowls and decanters are analyzed in detail, together with examples of architectural glass, in situ engraving and sandblasting for large-scale work. Stress is laid on design in relation to its site. Presentation glass, heraldry, trophies and windows are all dealt with and a chapter is devoted to the work of many present-day master craftsmen. The book also throws new light on Eric Gill's lettering and shows his influence on the author's work.
