The Battle of Berlin was the final major offensive of the European Theatre of World War II. Starting on 16 January 1945, the Red Army breached the German front and advanced westward. During the offensive, two Soviet army groups attacked Berlin from the east and south, while a third overran German forces positioned north of Berlin. The Battle in Berlin lasted from 20 April 1945 until the morning of 2 May. It is one of the bloodiest battles in history and largely took part on the streets of Germany's capital city.

In this sequel to Berlin 1945, Berlin 1945: L'agonie du Reich, written by George Bernage, explores the brutality of war inflicted upon this European capital. With over 400 rare photographs, he takes us street by street to witness the ravages of combat on the city and the fate of the civilian population during this last phase of the war against The Reich.
