Going into this book, I knew what to expect. I remember when the movie came out starting Mandy Moore. I never saw the movie or read the book....until now.

I picked up this book a few months ago and finally got arpund to reading it. I'll admit, the first chapter was sooo long and super slow. I almost dnf'ed it, but my husband suggested I give it a chance. I'm so glad I did!

Once the character and town building were out of the way, I couldn't put this down! Landon's character and story telling had me hooked. I laughed, I cried, I got mad. The feels, y'all, were there.

I saw the ending coming, but it was beautifully done.

I would reccomened this Nicholas Sparks to anyone that's willing to listen to me ;)

I never thought I'd say it, but I preferred Mandy Moore to Nicholas Sparks. A Walk to Remember was my first foray into Nicholas Sparks and I have to say, I was not impressed. I knew the premise before I began, I knew I was in for a tear-jerker. However, I did not expect the preachy nature of the novel. Yes, Jamie's father was a minister so there was going to be some religion in it however, I was not expecting the constant stream of "it's the Lord's Plan." If I had a penny for every time that statement was made I would be a very rich woman.

The characters were all one-dimensional. There wasn't anything unique about Landon or Jamie that made me route for their relationship nor was I given a reason why Jamie was so special, leaving Landon lovestruck.

Also, I found Nicholas Sparks to be manipulative. He contrived scenarios to pull at the reader's heartstrings. Unfortunately, instead of being sprouted organically they simply felt forced and thus, only a woman on her period would buy into this slop.

As for narration, Frank Muller did the best he could but it was beyond his power to save me from the wrath of A Walk to Remember

Sadly, for once Hollywood did it better than the book. It was an interesting theme on how one person can change another, but it was poorly executed and was a walk of disappointment.

I personally thought that the movie was much better than the book, but the relationship between Landon and Jamie was so cute and sweet.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Firstly I would like to say Nicholas Sparks write the best book boyfriends. I think this is a widely agreed statement. He also writes the saddest books. I have read 3 books by Sparks and I have cried during every single one of them.

I knew the story for this book as I watched the film years ago. Having already watched the film ruined this a bit for me as there was a storyline in the film which did not feature in the book. I was a little saddened by this as, part of this is one of my best memories of the film.

Back to the book, this is a very moving but romantic book. Seeing Landon change so quickly but so deeply and so irrevocably is amazing. Deep down he had the ability to be this wonderful person but the one to see it and bring it out in him was Jamie. Jamie is one of those characters you can't help but love. She's so happy despite everything that's happened to her. She is always thinking of others before herself.

I would recommend this book to all those chick-lit lovers out there but make sure you have a box of tissues handy.

Åh ja, Nicholas Sparks. Så mødes vi atter. Denne gang skuffer du mig desværre. Jeg kendte historien i forvejen, da jeg har set filmen omkring 742 gange, derfor var det også let at se alle de små tegn rundt omkring i bogen. Det vil jeg ikke komme mere ind på.
Sproget er, som vi kender det fra Sparks’ hånd, let at forstå og ikke særlig højtideligt. Det er noget af det der gør, jeg holder så meget af hans bøger. Jeg synes det er fantastisk, at han kan skrive så gode historier i et så let tilgængeligt sprog.
Det der skuffer mig ved denne bog er, at der går rigtig mange sider med at fortælle, hvem hhv. Landon og Jamie er. 90 sider er måske ikke så mange i en lang bog, men når der kun er omkring de 180 sider, så er det altså 50% af bogen! Det er lige voldsomt nok. Og man når lige at finde ud af, hvem de er og hvad der sker og så BOOM! Slut. Ikke flere sider. Det er jeg ikke helt tilfreds med, desværre.
Jeg tror faktisk, jeg vil anbefale folk at se filmen istedet for at læse bogen, men det hænger muligvis sammen med, at jeg selv gjorde det i den rækkefølge. Alt i alt er jeg skuffet når det kommer til handlingen, mens jeg er glad for det farverige persongalleri og det lette sprog.

This is the first book to have made me cry, but the movie made me sob. It was a very touching story, and I could not put it down. It's been sitting on my shelf for years, and I'm glad I finally read it.
