1919 Betty dressed in full bridal glory arrives at the church only to find the wrong Groom awaiting her at the altar. She quickly collapses into a faint as she tries to find a way out of this horrible mess. With the assistance of a kindly doctor Betty is left alone in a chamber for a few minutes, then manages to find her way out of the church and out to the street. There a quick thinking young woman befriends her and they make their escape. This is the story of an evil stepmother and her two sons trying to prey on a young girl's love of her father's memory. They deliberately kept the girl in the dark about her father's true wishes, the size and type of estate she is to inherit, and willfully isolated her from any people who could assist her. Betty's chance meeting with Jane creates a connection between Betty and a true family, the type of family that loves, each other and God.
