Logan Marshall was the pen-name of Logan Howard-Smith, an editor and writer who specialized in the rapid publication of books about current events. He was therefore ideally suited to write one of the first and most famous books published after the sinking of the Titanic, taking much of his material from contemporary newspaper reports. The initial print run was for no fewer than 110,000 copies, achieved by running 11 presses simultaneously. These books were then sold door-to-door by 60,000 agents across America, for a dollar apiece. Although much of Marshall's own description of the disaster is melodramatic and sensationalistic, the verbatim interviews with survivors that form a large part of the book have stood the test of time, and are frequently cited in Titanic literature. This edition is part of the Titanic Landmark Series, republishing eyewitness accounts of the Titanic. At Tales End Press we take pride in our ebooks: to try before you buy, download a free preview!
