The photographs in this book document the landscape of the First World War as it is today after nearly a century of restoration and regrowth. This is not a study of battlefields but rather of farmland and woodland which has been recreated on a landscape which was totally devastated by the impact of the war. Everything in these pictures has either grown or been built since 1918. This volume, Landskip I, covers Belgian Flanders and the next, Landskip II will cover France including the areas of Le Cateau, Arras, Somme, and Verdun. The Mons area of Belgium will also be illustrated in Landskip II.
