26. ‪A book published posthumously ‬

I wonder if you would consider coming to my house sometimes to sleep with me. (...) I’m talking about getting through the night. And lying warm in bed, companionably. Lying down in bed together and you staying the night. The nights are the worst. Don’t you think?

— A sweet book about companionship and finding love again in old age. Saw its film adaptation last year and loved it. Loved this book as well

Oddly enough, I thought this book had what Plainsong didn’t. The shorter length works for me. And it’s all the more poignant since it’s Haruf’s last.

I find myself rereading Haruf's work from time to time, and my feelings about it stay the time. What a beautiful and delicate story. Poignant. Haruf's work will be missed, but his books will remain timeless.
