Josef Albers was one of the most important and influential artists and teachers of the 20th century, from the Bauhaus in Germany, through Black Mountain College, North Carolina, to Yale. His "Homage to the Square" series of paintings and prints is one of the landmark achievements of abstraction. This is a catalogue raisonne of his work, covering the years 1915 to 1976. Colour is the key to Albers's art and this volume reproduces in colour every work that includes colour, including many special trial proofs. There are more than 350 prints in every conceivable graphic medium, as well as more than 100 print-related items, including Albers's influential record-album covers.
