William lived in an old house under a tree. One night a strong wind knocked over the tree and in the morning all the secret shadows were gone from the garden. Desolated, William decided to plant a new tree that would grow bigger and stronger and more beautiful each year. The book is published to coincide with the anniversary of the hurricane of October 1987. The royalties from the sale of the British edition will be sent to the Woodland Trust.
