Ex Coelis begins with mercenary Beau Watson boarding a Challenger jet at Buttonville, Ontario. Someone has tasked a group of mercenaries to rescue four movie actors in Malaysia. The Ties That Bind continues with Beau a few years after Ex Coelis and introduces his older brother Joey. Opus 2 begins in Woodstock, Vermont. A bald-headed man seems to be watching a rare-bookseller whose past comes back to haunt him. While these stories are plot-driven, there is an underlying theme - the lack of control the characters have over events in their lives. We may think that we have free will but all too often outsiders and events change the course of the story and our lives.
