Cocktails and Books

From the moment Dalton and Holli meet, you can feel their chemistry. It's in their banter with each other. The fact the each of their sarcastic barbs don't hurt the other, but rather they see that barb as a sort of mating ritual. And as they get to know each other better, that chemistry (while extremely hot when it comes to their sex life) helps them navigate the emotional ups and downs they go through as both Dalton and Holli try to work through their personal issues and make their relationship work.
I loved how the author didn't give these characters a fairy tale type of romance. She made it hard for Dalton and Holli, forcing them to really work at building their relationship. But for each pitfall the couple had to face and work through, you knew that despite the hurt they would find a way to fight back.
This was my first S. L. Scott book and I have to say I really enjoyed her voice and the world she built in this story. I'll definitely be looking for more from this author in the future.
