This book falls into the same non-fiction category as [b:The Monster of Florence|2198274|The Monster of Florence|Douglas Preston|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1306075698s/2198274.jpg|2204022] - it would make for a crappy, incomprehensible fictional story, but the fact that it's something that really happened makes it absolutely fascinating. I couldn't stop reading once I started, I was dying to find out more.

Some of the criticisms of the book had me expecting this to be nothing but The Paul Haggis Story, but the author actually used a sweepingly large number of sources. I've also seen some complaints that the author is overly even-handed in his approach, but honestly, the bare facts laid out without any commentary speak for themselves.
