This book is based on Alwyn Crawshaw's fifth Channel 4 television series, scheduled for early 1995. It introduces the leisure painter to the versatile medium of acrylics. Acrylic paint is ideal for the beginner as it is easy to work with and, depending on the method of application, can be used like watercolour or oil paint. The book also features work by Alwyn's wife June, an experienced artist in her own right, and by contrasting her work with his, he teaches all the basic techniques needed to master the acrylic medium. Subjects covered include: mixing colours; using different painting surfaces; simplifying a complicated scene; sketching; and painting from different viewpoints.
