Reading recovery is big news at the moment. Government has invested large sums in one scheme from New Zealand (Marie Clay) but this is costly in time and resources, and the money is now running out. This is much more practical in the ordinary classroom and has been shown to work.
Primary schools very often have volunteer parents coming in to help with reading. This scheme makes full use of them.
Spelling in Context doing very well. Brigid Smith will therefore be known to teachers.
