A radical American journalist and a revolutionary socialist, John Reed was best known for his eyewitness account of the 1917 Russian Revolution, Ten Days That Shook the World (Penguin Classic, 2007). In 1919, Reed helped found the US Communist party. His life was told in the 1981 Academy Award-winning film Reds, starring Diane Keaton and Warren Beatty. Reed also chronicled many other flash-points of the workers' struggle from Mexico to Russia and the best of his journalism is collected in this new edition of his writings, edited by historian and activist Mike Davis.
