This volume comprises tributes to Sir Leslie Martin, together with detailed historical descriptions of his major works in the UK and Portugal. Architect and urbanist, Sir Leslie Martin was Professor of Architecture at Cambridge University for nearly 20 years (1956-1972). He is known for his strong belief in urban design, the organization of low-rise medium density housing, as opposed to tower blocks, and computer-based research. Apart from his designs for the Royal Festival Hall in London and The Gallery of Modern Art in Lisbon, he has also designed a number of renowed academic or arts buildings at Oxford and Cambridge Unviersities, and in Glasgow.
