The Store Boy, by Horatio Alger, revolves around Ben, the hero, and his struggles and adventures in life. The story begins with the boy's meeting with a tramp. Ben's relation with his mother has been described very beautifully in the second chapter of the story.
In every step of his life, Ben learns from different people, first it was his mother and then the people he comes across in his different jobs. Having struggled a lot, one day Ben's luck brings him name and fame. He continues to pursue for more perfection and knowledge and he does succeed to a very great extent.
