Following an introductory note to parents, Richter speaks to the children themselves about daily care and grooming; preparing for a lesson; the lesson itself (beginning with the gaits and progressing to single jumps and patterns of jumps); preparing for a horse show; and the show itself. In time, children should improve their riding skills and learn self-discipline and how to respect the individuality of each horse or pony they ride.
